Vul'cak replies, "I will look to Mia for guidance, since she is my commanding officer, and I am part of her crew. You remind me of my own mother. She tries to keep the peace between my father and his close friend, although at times, they would argue. She often keeps me away from the quarrels but sometimes she cannot." He looks a little sad, and a little angry.
"I will not forgive the Vulcan who nearly killed my friend and...... me. The connection between us was faint. I had almost forgotten the incident until he called me a while ago."

Vul'cak thanks Ma for the bloodwine, then he returns to the Gunslinger, and Spot greets him. He tells her, "I am sorry, Spot, I cannot pick you up right now. I was hit in the stomach." She walks beside him as he goes to his quarters. Inside his quarters, he sits on the bed and touches his stomach. She senses he is badly hurt and sits at his side. "How do you feel, brother?" Spock telepathically asks. Vul'cak, in the privacy of his quarters, closes his eyes. He chokes, tears welling in his eyes, "As painful and sore as the time Sarek hit you before Vulcan was destroyed in our alternative reality timeline. Aaaaaaaaaaah!" He fell on the floor, moaning. The cat jumps off the bed and nuzzles him. He clutches his stomach with one hand and pets her head with the free hand. "I am hurt, girl. I am really hurt." He tells her. She paws a spot and she suddenly yowls, removing her paw. Then she shows him her paw, which was strained green. "Vul'cak! Your heart...........the connection between us is faint." Mia could feel something wrong, she gets up and heads to Vul'cak's quarters, she also calls for medical assistance. Once they reach they find his quarters locked, Mia overrides

Spot's green strained paw shocks Vul'cak and he orders her to show him the spot. She obeyed, and showed him the spot where she had touched. But this time she did not touch it. With his free hand, he feels around the spot and as he was in so much pain, he could not feel the object. He manages to draw it out, and to his shock, it was a blood-strained barb of an arrow. He takes it out of his heart spot, and drops the arrow. She growls at the arrow and steps away from it.
He tries to get up, but the pain washed all over his body, and he is faintly aware of the fading connection between him and Spock. He faints from the loss of blood.

The medical crew rushes in and quickly tends to vul'cak, Mia, even though an admiral, stays out of the way, she does however try to keep his mind from going

Vul'cak fights to stay alive, and he starts to have fainting spells on and off, even coughing out his own blood. He is still faint, but he can sense Mia in the void, and he reaches out to her.
"Why is he dying? Shouldn't he just be badly injured?" One of the meds ask. Another med replies, "He is a Vulcan. The arrow struck his heart. It struck where the human liver should be. See the colour of his blood? It is green, not red. We have to save him."
Inside the void, Vul'cak says to himself, "Those voices. They are outside. Where I must be. But why am I here?"

"I am? Something pierced my heart?" Vul'cak asks, trying to remember. But his memory was muddled, as if his life has been a dream. However a single memory shines brightly, and he reaches out to it. Immediately, rage filled him and he cried out, "NO SHARIEL YOU ARE NOT TAKING ME TODAY. SAREK, I WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU FOR WHAT YOU DID. YOU NEARLY KILLED HIM. I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU. NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!" The last three words were spoken aloud, and Spot let out a loud 'meow'. She hissed.
The meds were taken back by the sudden words, and stared at Vul'cak.
"I remember what my T'hya'la did. It will be hard to heal the damaged organ. I need strength to keep me alive, while I do the Vulcan way." Vul'cak says, appearing out of the void.

Vul'cak goes into self-healing and draws on Mia's strength, as the loss of his own blood has weakened him. It fills his injured body, enabling him to concentrate all his energy on the heart.

Mia sits comfortably next to Vul'cak and goes into a meditative state so the loss of her own strength wouldn't be so taxing

With Mia's help, he was able to concentrate all his strength, blood, and antibodies onto the injured organ. His mind was on the tissue he was fighting to heal.
After some time, he starts gasping for air. He calls, "Med." This startled the first med, and answered, "Yes?" Vul'cak says, "Hit me. The pain will help me to consciousness. Hit me." The first med was shocked, but the second med nods, "Right away. Before it is too late." Then the med starts slapping his face. The Vulcan barely feels his first few strikes;
"Again. Continue. The pain will help me to consciousness." Vul'cak requests. The second med continues obediently to strike him, giving him pretty vicious hits across the face. The first med stares, astonished. Finally Vul'cak grabs the second med's arm, and says, "That will be quite enough. Thank you, medic."
The medic says, "We need to bring you to sickbay to be cleaned up and monitored. The doctor will not be pleased if a patient is not there."

Vul'cak agrees, "I am quite all right now." Then he looks at the arrow, which had pierced his heart. Spot hissed when he looks at it, and he agrees with her. Then he slowly gets up and with the medics helping him, he sits down on the bed. Spot goes to him and he picks her up, stroking her.

Vul'cak says to Spot, "One past thing to ruin my future, but I am going to learn from this lesson to make a better future for the Ambassador and myself. Ma is right, 'Don't let past things ruin your future dear, they are just lessons for us to make a better future.' I am not going to let past things ruin our future."
Spot replies, "Meow?" He cuddles her, and replies, "Oh he was so enraged when he heard he was disowned by his own son. Well it was his fault for gravely hitting him." Suddenly he feels the connection, and he was at peace.
"Spock......." Vul'cak says.

When Mia left, Vul'cak tells Spot, "It was shocking to see Kirk choking Sarek, and Spock hitting Sarek so hard. It was Sarek's fault for calling him a half human. I will not forget the sight, but he is dead now. First it was in the alternate reality, second it was in this timeline. My earlier memory surfaced the moment he came on board the Enterprise D."
Spot replies, "Meow. Meow."

Vul'cak thanks Spot, and sets her down, wincing as his shoulder throbs. He says, "I better not strain myself or my shoulder will hurt." Then he went to sleep, with Spot curled up at the foot of the bed.

Mia continued to sleep, she was having dreams about Vul'cak's memories since she melded with him, his latent anger was causing this, she was beginning to understand why he has been so angry.

Vul'cak dreams about his time in 2254, in the alternative reality, and starts thinking. What if one father had accepted, without the natural disaster looming fatally close? The Vulcan senses Mia, and in his sleep, he telepathically says, "My father was gravely injured by his own father, and Sarek did not even mind-meld him, despite seeing the painful attack."
