It was normally unusual that an Admiral would be in command of a starship but there was an exception made since this ship was actually her brother's, Micheal, but since she was present she had automatic authority but the decision was Micheal's, though at times he did ask for her opinion about things. They were on a mission to the Devron system to see about weapons testing since the Devron system was open and blank.

Vul'cak removes his fingers from the face, and says, "No offence to you, Captain Picard. He is the best captain I had, and I will not forget the friendship he has with my brother." Vul'cak tells Picard.

Once arriving at the Devron system, several test buoys were launched, some were shielded, others were not. The new weapons were tested, they had shield penetrating torpedoes and phaser systems, no matter what the shield percentage was, the test so far was a success. The Admiral had some rather nifty ideas, sadly most of them were rejected by the Federation Council, this with two other things were about the only things that they approved of and Micheal was willing to go with it.

As Kirk died, Vul'cak lost his Vulcan demeanor and screamed, "SORAN!" Jean allows him five minutes to mourn for his former captain.
Vul'cak calms down, and removes the debris, allowing Jean to pick Kirk. Then together, they walked to the mountaintop and Vul'cak says, "I will never forget him, and as Soran is dead, I cannot avenge my captain."

Testing was complete when an emergency call about assisting the Enterprise D, we responded and were on our way. Along the way Micheal and Mia were reminiscing about the academy years. Gunslinger was one of the first ships to respond, Mia and Micheal hopped on the first fleet of shuttles down to the planet surface and started to help get survivors on board and give them much needed medical attention

Burying Kirk on the mountaintop, Jean-Luc Picard stands and keeps silent vigil with Vul'cak at his side. The Vulcan looks long and hard at the burial site before he tells Picard, "We can leave." Then the two left the burial site.

Some time later, they begin a long trek through the desert until an Enterprise shuttlecraft appears and picks them up.
"Captain's log, stardate 48650.1. Three Starfleet vessels have arrived in orbit and have begun to beam up the Enterprise survivors. Our casualties were light, but unfortunately the Enterprise herself cannot be salvaged."

It was a good things were not worse then they appear, in the distance Michael could see a shuttle that was coming from the desert, Michael went ball to the ship and mia was short to follow since all that was left was the captain and a few bridge crew.

Vul'cak was feeling lost and as he spends his time in sickbay, he reflects on the memory he had shared with Kirk. Before Picard came down, he had mind-melded his former captain.

After over seven years of calling the Enterprise-D home, Picard, and Riker, take one last look around their destroyed starship and the captain signaled the starship Farragut for two to beam them up.
After the two were beamed up, the Farragut, a Miranda-class and an Oberth-class starships go to warp leaving the wrecked saucer section on Veridian III.

the ships are en-route to the nearest starbase, in the mean time Admiral Evenstar goes about the Enterprise crew to find out what happened to the Enterprise in the first place. Come to find out there was something to do with an energy ribbon and klingons along with a man named Sorn, pondering on this she does her own research. Meanwhile Gunslinger was already unloading the Enterprise crew at the starbase, they sat there and waited for the other two ships to arrive, both Mia and Micheal wanted to speak with their academy friend Jean Luc Picard.

Vul'cak stays quiet on the journey, and refuses to answer anyone. As an aging Vulcan, he was beginning to lose control of his emotions. As a result, he starts to cry. But he was not aware of this.

At the starbase, Mia and Micheal met up with Jean Luc and Beverly and they began to discuss recent events, some of it was still a bit shocking and currently without any ship and since Mia was an admiral, she invited the enterprise crew to Gunslinger, Micheal had no objection so Mia contacted starfleet command about the arrangement, they had no objection either because it was either stay with Mia and Micheal on Gunslinger or be on shore leave until a new Enterprise could be completed. Jean Luc and Beverly take the offer along with most of the Enterprise crew, the rest needed a break for a while. Eventually Mia notices Vul'cak and goes to him. "Its not normal for a Vulcan to show emotion, I can tell something traumatic has happened to you." she says to him

Vul'cak replies, "On stardate 8130.3, I urged my friend to save the ship and he did so, but in doing so, he died. I was not too worried as his katra was transferred to another person. On stardate 8210.3, I nerve pitched the control room personnel to access the controls. I opened the door for my friends to escape. However I was arrested for this action. Shortly before my arrest, I told Admiral it is not Scotty but me."

"I sense that you had a connection with....... Captain Kirk, what I don't understand is he is supposed to be dead along time ago, according to your mind, he died recently? And no i'm not a betazoid, I'm just a human that's special."

As if he did not hear Amelia, Vul'cak continues, "My childhood friend's detached, logical analysis balances my captain's own intuitive and impulsive nature. Their official relationship deepened into a friendship of mutual respect and love that was without a doubt the most important relationship of my captain's life. They were special to each other and I could see the joy of friendship my friend had in the five-years-missions. Captain has saved my friend's lives more than once and I am eternally grateful to him. He has told the elderly ambassador, '...the cost would have been my soul.'"

mia nods as she listens to vul'cak, with her being the youngest yet oldest admiral in starfleet she has seen all sorts of relationships form and break, however there was no bond stronger then a captain and crew even in the event of death the legacy and memory are carried on through history.

Shaking his head, Vul'cak begins to notice Mia for the first time. He looks at her and he could feel himself crying, so he stops crying. He says, "I had served seven years under Captain Picard, and it was I who urged Ambassador S'chn to save the elder Ambassador S'chn on stardate 3842.3. I managed to talk some sense into him, after he was slapped. If you do not mind having me, I would like to serve you. I know I am not as young as I used to be when I was serving Captain Kirk. Since Ambassador Sarek lived to two hundred and three years old, I will continue to serve as long as I am able to."

Mia slightly chuckles. "I don't mind, all you have to do is put in a transfer to Gunslinger then it will be looked at and you will be notified, I really may not look it, in fact I know I don't, but I'm as old if not slightly older then captain Picard so I know about age." Mia pats Vul'cak's shoulder and urges him to walk with her.

Vul'cak replies, "It was shortly after my friend's final decision, and my father was open-minded, unlike the Ambassador at that time. He told me that he will always be proud of me, no matter what choices I made. He asked me a question which I will never forget, 'Are you happy to have the Ambassador's son as your friend? When none of the other Vulcan children will?' The Ambassador's son befriended me and I am eternally grateful to him. My father was part of the Ambassador entourage, except on stardate 3842.3. When I was twenty, I was commissioned as a Starfleet officer in 2250. Four years later, I was assigned to the USS Enterprise. The starship and her namesake was my home until 2293. Two years later, my only son was born. He should be here today, as USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) was destroyed."

"Where is your son? Perhaps you would like some time to spend with him, I know vulcans have an extraordinary ability to suppress their emotions but family is family and we don't know the day it could all be taken away, much like the Enterprise I've been on it only once during my starfleet career I should take the time to visit some of my friends a little more often, maybe the next ship Captain Picard commands I will do that." Mia says leading Vul'cak to 10 forward

"He should be with Data and the other crew members of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D). As my father was open-minded, I am also open-minded. Between Stardate 1312.4. and stardate 3842.3. I grew closer to my father. I am also close to my own son."
A younger Vulcan watches as Data cries, cradling Spot in his arms. He tells Data, "I am happy to see Spot alive and well. Thanks to Spot, we were saved last year."

"Logically, you are right." Vul'cak tells Mia, then he leaves the ship, and into the Starbase. A personnel asks, "Looking for the other Vulcan? He is in the rest and recreation, after leaving Data and the cat." She takes Vul'cak to the R & R room, where S'pock was just beginning a chess game.
S'pock looks up as Vul'cak comes in, and gives him the Vulcan salute. Then he says, "Shariel did not take you." Vul'cak returns the Vulcan salute, and tells him, "Shariel did not take you either. But he has taken my Captain today. I cannot bear to be on another USS Enterprise without my Captain and my Ambassador. But I will be always proud of you, no matter what you choice you made. If you decide to follow your Captain Picard, I will still be proud of you." But they spoke in the Vulcan language.

Mia went to her quarters and put in a request of personnel change for Vul'cak, since Mia was an Admiral the ship transfer would only take about 24 hours. When she was done, Mia leaned back in her chair and began to 'talk' with Micheal who was in his ready room.

S'pock replies, "My first assigned ship was USS Stargazer, and I had served under Captain Picard. It is very unlikely that I will follow anyone else. What about you?" His father replies, "I have requested to be assigned to another ship, and I will be notified in a few days of my request."
The younger Vulcan began his chess game and Vul'cak watches him.
