After the game, in which S'pock wins, Vul'cak takes his son to his quarters. They sat down to talk.
Vul'cak asks, "Are you sure you do not want to settle down? You are seventy-six years old. When I was sixty-three, I decided to retire and start a family."
S'pock replies, "You had me at the same age as the elder Ambassador with the younger Ambassador. But, father, I can still serve my captain. The elder Ambassador lived for two hundred and three years. I have seen him losing control of his emotions and I was able to resist the emotional projections. It pains me to feel the agony of his death and for the first time I feel scared. No, father, I will continue to serve Captain Picard until he gives me an order. "

Vul'cak decides to check his personal computer, and he discovers that his transfer request was approved. He read he was being transferred to the U.S.S. Gunslinger, and that its Registration Number is NCC- 15269 D. The person in command was Admiral Amelia Evenstar. His son reads the message, and he tells his son, "You were encouraged to be independent from young, so it is only logical I will not stop you. When you decide to settle down, let me know."
S'pock stop reading and replies, "I will let you know, father. Good luck in the U.S.S. Gunslinger."

Vul'cak speaks in the Vulcan language, "Thank you, S'chn T'gai S'pock. We had a long day and we better get some rest. I do need mine. I am too old for battles now but I hope my long experience will be of some use to Admiral Evenstar." He went to sleep. His son did the same.

Mia had woken up from a nightmare and the sound of breaking glass "not again, these psychic nightmares are really beginning to annoy me, at least mine won't effect others around me, its the inanimate objects I'm starting to worry about." Mia says after getting up and heads towards the bridge, vul'cak would make a good addition to the bridge crew.

Several hours later, S'pock wakes up from his nap and wait for his father to wake up. He waited for two hours, and during the two hours, he decides to use his father's computer to check on the U.S.S. Gunslinger. He discovers the ship has several races as bridge crew members.
Vul'cak wakes up and says, "I do not feel so tired anymore." Seeing the information on his computer, he reads it. He wonders if this Amelia has had any Vulcan crew member before. She seems to understand he lost his Vulcan emotional control earlier.

On the bridge, Mia remembered the last time she had a vulcan for a bridge crew member, it didn't end so well, they became friends yes but two years after being assigned to Gunslinger he went on a mission and was killed within hours of beginning the mission, Mia never had a vulcan bridge crew member after that. It was funny, Mia and this particular Vulcan could always read each others minds so they became close, that was like 8 years ago, Mia kinda missed that feel for having a Vulcan.

Vul'cak decides to spend his time with his son until he is ordered to report for duty. He and S'pock leave his quarters to get some food. Over a meal, S'pock asks, "Why did you choose a quiet life, father, over the diplomatic career?"
"I did not want to compromise his life. I wish to remain his friend, and I felt it is only logic we go our separate ways. But I did attend his wedding." Vul'cak replies.

Mia went into Micheal's ready room and informed him of the transfer "When will the transfer be complete?" he asks "The end of the week, give him time to be with his son." Mia replies "He's a vulcan, I thought you didn't want another vulcan on the bridge?" "Yeah well times change and I've gotten wiser where you've gotten older." "Funny, just because you are actually older then me and haven't aged much and I'm younger and look like your grandpa." "Oh come on Micheal, you know I didn't mean it like that." "I know. I'll make sure he has a spot." "Thank you." "You are my superior officer after all." "I know that too." Mia and Micheal spoke for awhile after that

S'pock replies, "Yes. I remember the Ambassador looking like you, except he has black hair. I feel honoured to bear his name. Speaking of which, you also felt sad that only you and your former captain remembered him at one time. You were away in Kir (city), right?"
Vul'cak looks at his son, and was quiet for a while. Then he replies, "Yes I was. I failed that one time. Luckily, I-Chaya was there to save him."

S'pock says, "A game of chess would keep us busy." His father replies, "Yes. It will."
After the meal, they headed to the recreation room. They sat down to play chess, but not before Vul'cak says, "I wonder if we will see some of the U.S.S. Gunslinger's crew members."

The chess game went on, but ultimately, Vul'cak won the game. The two Vulcans had used their natural telepathic minds to play the game. Then he turns to Mia, and explains to S'pock, "This is the person who comforted me after my Captain's death." Speaking to Mia, he says, "This is my son, S'pock. If you find the name similar to the Ambassador, you are right. I name my son after my friend. So far he has...."
S'pock responds, "I have not tarnished the Ambassador's good name, and I was an exceptionally gifted student, possessing great intelligence. One day, I will take my place amongst the great scholars of Vulcan. The last time I saw him was at his wedding, since I left the Academy together with Captain Picard."
Vul'cak says, "On Stardate 8454.1, I told a formerly exceptionally gifted student, 'Your brother rejects you.' To my friend, 'Remember he was banished.' At the end, however, I comforted my friend."

"I'm just a simple human that is slightly older then Picard and the Hell we went through, our final exam was to study a culture on Uralah 7 there were transporter problems in the sector so we had to use shuttles, all seemed fine for awhile until the explosions happened, very few of us managed to escape with most of us weren't so lucky. I can't help but wonder what would have happened had we all not survived its a blessing we did, Picard, Beverly, or, Michael won't talk about it." Mia said taking a seat with the two vulcans.

S'pock looks at his father, and Vul'cak replies, in their language, "Go ahead. It is logicial to perform taroon-ifla." The younger Vulcan replies, "I am five years older than my Captain, yet I did not go into the Academy until 2325, and graduates Starfleet Academy with him. If you would allow me to perform taroon-ifla, you will know. Qui'lari." He reaches for Mia's face.

"Since my shipmates will not share their memories, I will." S'pock says, in the Vulcan language. He touched Mia's face and showed her his memory of what happened that day since his shipmates refused to say.
Vul'cak has seen this happen before, when he was between thirty-five and forty-years old.

The whole pupil of Mia's began to turn red, her natural body defense towards mental invaders, the memories began to warp and distort more of into shocking and horrific visions that felt more real, the sound became hyper realistic as though this was the real memory. "I warned you." That was all Mia said

S'pock felt Mia's agony and he nearly faltered from his mind-meld. But he sat and held on. After a while, he stopped his mind-meld and says, "The Vulcan which she had, died within hours after departing for his mission."
Vul'cak touches his shoulder, "S'pock, you have grown stronger in the past seven years. Remember to always obey the captain, and to use logic. Do not go off on missions on your own, without discussing with your captain. If you are denied, remember, it may be illogical."

Mia cleared up and looked around. Time seemed to stop during this time, Mia kept it that way as she feared her destructive power and she wanted no one else to experience it. "don't ever meld to me again, that is an order, I would prefer to keep minds intact and this ship in one piece." Mia said rather angrily, Michael however felt it anyway, brings him back to the time when they were younger and she would always play tricks on him and blame it on a ghost, things changed when they arrived to the academy, Mia almost grew distant but still was distant she surpassed everyone on skill and knowledge yet she never seemed quite herself.
