"We don't have UV satellites but we can set the main deflector dish to send out a wide beam of UV radiation, attach that beam with the satellites and we may be able to cover the planet with enough radiation to kill the parasite but cause no harm to anyone else." Mia says to Vul'cak
"Gunslinger to away team." Mia says
"Away team here." Data replies
"Data we are going to be sending down UV satellites and flood the planet with ultraviolet radiation, I need you two to keep eyes on the levels and the reaction of the parasite." Mia orders
"Understood, Data out."

On the Williamatt, Eric calls sickbay, "Eric to Casey."
"Casey here."
"The Vulcan on the Gunslinger suggests we send the infected patients to the planet. They will be cured of the neural parasites, which are infecting the humans. Unlike the Vulcans, they wil be blind forever if we bring them to the lab. Eric out."
Eric says, "Deploy ultraviolet satellites down to the planet. It will rid the planet of these parasites."
"Yes, Captain!" The bridge crew replied.
Then the satellites were deployed, but they covered half the planet.

Some time later, Eric received a message. "Eric here. Go ahead, Beckingham."
"The infected have beamed down to the planet."
Eric smiles, "Very good, Beckingham."
Ratiyadav: Completing the seeding orbit, Captain. One hundred and five ultraviolet satellites now in position. Seventy two miles altitude, permanent orbit about the planet.
Eric replies: Good. Scanners?
Beckingham: Scanners ready, sir.
Eric: Very well. Ready, Helm?
Ratiyadav: Ready, Captain.
Eric: Satellite control, this is the Captain. Energise all satellites.
MAN [OC]: Affirmative.
Beckingham: All satellites operative, Captain.
Eric calls the Gunslinger, "Williamatt is ready for uv flood."
Down on the planet, half of the gel-creatures are dropping to the ground and dissolving with the Williamatt's satellites.

With a nod, a flood of UV covers the entire planet. Data and abukabar monitor the surface conditions and the neural parasite. abukabar's mask protects him from the radiation.

The planet was filled with the clamour of the infected humans and Betazoids, "We did it. They're finally gone. We're free. We're free." Being telepathic, the Betazoids reached out joyfully to the crew members in the two ships.
On the Williamatt, the Vulcans gathered in the briefing rooms to share the Betazoids' joy.
Vul'cak leaves the bridge and goes into an empty room, as there's a big, big grin across his face. He reports the good news to his brother.
Brother replies, "That is good news, brother. I am happy to hear it."
A crew member, Greenwood, calls his captain, "Listen to this, sir!" He keeps his communicator so that his captain can hear. On his ship, Eric opens the channel to the Gunslinger, so that the bridge crew can hear the good news.

Mia smiles, and it was deemed safe for data and abukabar to return to gunslinger. Then Mia began to think, those parasites would have to have been brought, they wouldn't be able to survive in space, the radiation would have killed them instantly, and these creates weren't known to betazed, Mia was rather puzzled but didn't let it show.

As soon as the Betazoids were able to contain their joy, a Betazoid asks one of the former infected women, "Where did you come from?" The human woman replies, "I came in the shuttle 'May' from the Beta Portilin system. Those vaporized things were on the Beta Portilin system."
Greenwood heard the woman, and calls, "Captain."
Eric replies, "Yes, Greenwood?"
Greenwood replies, "Those neural parasites came from the Beta Portilin system. If I remember my history correctly, Ambassador Spock evaluated these things. He speculated the overall pattern of mass insanity destroying civilisations follows an almost straight line through Deneva's system. The Beta Portilin system the ancient civilisations. Archaeologists had given him information indicating that they were the beginning. Three hundred and four years ago, Levinius Five was swept by mass insanity, then Theta Cygni Twelve. The last was Ingraham B, one hundred and six years ago. Then it went to Denva, and was eventually thought to be destroyed. The shuttle 'May' came from the Beta Portilin system, and the passengers were infected."
Eric stays silent for a while, then he says, "We will stay in orbit for a while. After this visit, we will go to the Beta Portilin system to get rid of these parasites. I will beam down to meet with the Betazoids. Eric out." Then he speaks to Mia, "I am going to relieve Gordon and promote S'chn, one of my infected Vulcans, to First Officer. I will be here for a while, then we are going to the source to defeat it once and for all."

"Understood, just be careful, that's an order." Mia says to Eric, she then orders the com channel closed and then orders the Gunslinger back to the neutral zone to patrol the border

When the telepathic path was clear, Vul'cak returns to the bridge, and Tea tells him, "Captain Eric is promoting one of his Vulcans to be First Officer. He discovered your logic was sound and realizes he needs a Vulcan. Gordon was First officer."
Vul'cak was pleased to hear it. After Mitchell died, Spock was made First Officer.

Mia stands there and opens her mind to the space outside. Abukabar and Data make their way to the bridge, Abukabar puts his mask down since the walkways were too small for his tallness he was allowed to keep his staff. Something soft brushes Vul'cak's leg, and the Vulcan looks down. He smiles, and kneels, before he says quietly, "Hello, Spot! Thanks to you, I was saved from being frozen to death. I was feeling cold, much more than a century ago." He strokes the cat and she purrs at his touch.

Spot allows Vul'cak to pick her up, and he carries her. He did not disturb Mia, and says to Abukabar, "She would not let me touch her for a year. But I was allowed to feed her, and then she grew comfortable with me. That was three years ago." Spot rubs her head against Vul'cak's head.

I consulted the computer library to familiarise myself with everything associated with Egyptians and obelisks. Four years ago, I learnt Egyptians worshipped cats." "I can't sense anything, not even a proto plasmic space flea, we'll move along the neutral zone, keep sensors running." Mia says as gunslinger follows along the border, Mia keeps an open mind. Abukabar finds a soot on the bridge and stands there like the queen of England royal guards, but not as still, even here he still felt dutiful.
